University of Jyväskylä

University of Jyväskylä has 16 international master's degree programmes with approximately 1000 international and/or multicultural students:

  1. Biology of Physical Activity (Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences)
    Programme graduates are qualified to work at sport and fitness centres and academies,
    research institutes, medical rehabilitation centres and sports organisations, and in related positions.

     

  2. Corporate Environmental Management (School of Business and Economics)
    The programme combines business studies and environmental studies, and equips students with an understanding of the social, environmental and economic perspectives required for business success in a competitive global economy.

  4. Development and International Cooperation (Faculty of Social Sciences)
    The programme offers the opportunity to learn multidisciplinary theoretical knowledge and practical skills for development and international cooperation, which emphasises the quality of support and resources provided to lower income countries, in line with the UN Millennium Development Goals.

  6. Digital Culture (Faculty of Humanities)
    The multidisciplinary studies focus on art and culture, and their digitalisation tendencies, placing special emphasis on the relation between humans and technology. The Programme highlights the local and Nordic perspectives in its approach while also recognising current globalisation tendencies.

  8. Educational Leadership (Faculty of Education)
    Developes internationally oriented professionals and experts for the fields of educational leadership and international educational reform. Programme graduates can become employed as researchers and experts in national and international programmes relating to educational change and reform, and in educational administration.

  10. Family Business (School of Business and Economics)
    This programme is an internationally recognised "think tank" for present or forthcoming family
    business owners, successors, family members and key non-family managers and advisors - a programme to learn
    family entrepreneurship and family business governance.

  12. Gerontology (Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences)
    The programme explores the most common issues of wellbeing in old age and ways to promote successful and healthy ageing.

  14. Intercultural Communication (Faculty of Humanities)
    The programme is designed to enhance intercultural contact. In addition to courses on intercultural communication and intercultural competence, students may focus on issues related to intercultural and international relations, intercultural education and training, communication, multiculturalism and area studies.

  16. Mobile Technology and Business (Faculty of Information Technology)
    Programme graduates will have in-depth knowledge of mobile technologies and business, and master academic research in the field. Students may orient their studies towards technology or business according to their interests.

  18. Music, Mind and Technology (Faculty of Humanities)
    The two-year programme is intended to acquaint students with the contemporary research into music perception and cognition, to familiarise them with various applications of music technology, and to develop the skills needed for carrying out empirical investigations in the field.

  20. Nanoscience (Nanoscience Center)
    The programme educates interdisciplinary experts, who can apply the knowledge and know-how of physics, chemistry and biology in the fast developing research and product development of Nanoscience.

  22. Renewable Energy (Faculty of Mathematics and Science)
    The programme provides education in the area of sustainable energy sources and technologies, and their economic possibilities and an understanding of associated societal factors. The programme is implemented in co-operation of three faculties: Mathematics and Science, Social Sciences, and Business and Economics.

  24. Sport and Exercise Psychology (Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences)
    Programme graduates can be employed as psychological health and well-being consultants, performance
    enhancement consultants, leaders, or academic researchers.

  26. Sport Science and Management (Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences)
    This programme provides students with research-oriented education in the complex field of sport management, which is explored from a multidisciplinary perspective.

  28. Sustainable Management of Inland Aquatic Resources (Faculty of Mathematics and Science)
    The programme offers advanced training in the environmental and biological processes determining the
    characteristics of inland waters, and in how this scientific understanding can be applied to a sustainable
    ecological, economic and social management of inland waters. An individual research project with
    associated courses and seminars provides students with essential research skills.
